An initiate in a coven would surely have heard these words:
"Ever mind the rule of three,
What ye send out comes back to thee."
Studying Wicca, you are guaranteed to have come across this powerful phrase.
This is the Wiccan Threefold Law or the Rule of Threes, and you will find it in the Wiccan Rede.
This is not simply a Wiccan law, and you certainly will not be punished if you don’t heed it…
...but it is the very fabric upon which life is made. And it’s just the way the Universe works.
It is very similar to the concept of cause and effect.
Now let this knowledge set you free.
And by setting yourself free:
You are opening yourself up to people
You are opening yourself up to experiences
You are sharing more of yourself
You are sharing more of what you have
You are putting yourself out of there
You are getting back to Nature
You can use the Rule of Threes work for you, meaning, you can:
think positive thoughts
do good unto others
be generous with others
...and these will come back to you threefold.
And it’s not only about the three things. There are as many good deeds as there are good thoughts.
You can spread love around, and it is a guarantee, that one way or another, love in all its forms will come back to you threefold.
There are symbols that you can wear to keep the spirit of the Threefold Law close to you.
If you’ve done a bit of reading about Wicca, you will notice how the number 3 keeps recurring.
It is the number of the Mother Goddess. It is the number of grace. It’s a number that can help you in many areas you may struggle with.
The Triple Moon symbol is the symbol of the Mother Goddess. Any symbol of threes also symbolizes the Mother Goddess, as you will see in the other items after this.
This best suits women for it represents the immense power of women - something innate in them from the Mother Goddess.
If you are a woman, you have an immense capability to be generous, caring, and loving.
Ever wonder why women are so nurturing? Ever wonder what makes a mother’s love differ from a father’s love?
Women have the Mother Goddess to thank for that.
If you find yourself always wanting to get back at people, this will help you think deeply about your motivations.
The Triskele, or triple spiral is an ancient symbol of the Celts.
Their belief was that life moved in everlasting cycles and that all important things come in three phases.
Wiccans also took from the Celtic beliefs and if you think about it, it is true:
If you struggle with change, the triple spiral will help you in transition periods. It’s easy to act out when you feel uncomfortable in the situation.
Triquetra means three-cornered in Latin. It also goes by the name Trinity Knot.
It is one of the ancient symbols of the Maiden, Mother, and Crone plus:
The triquetra will help you work past your commitment issues, whether it’s in your romantic relationships, your relationship with your family members, or commitment to anything you set your mind to.
Hurting other people or giving just a little bit of yourself to avoid commitment will attract the same thing.
It’s best to think of how your actions will affect others and start from there.
Ultimately, whether you accept the Rule of Threes as a touchstone for your morality, you will find that it actually sets you free for there is no punishment, really.
You are free to control your thoughts and behavior, and you are responsible for them.
If you accept personal responsibility for your deeds, you will find yourself THINKING before ACTING.
Every four years, people the world over will have an extra day added to their calendar.
For some, it is just another day at work. For others, it’s a chance to take a break. In other traditions, especially in Britain, it is the one day where women can propose to their male partners.
