Black obsidian is a type of natural glass that forms when hot volcanic lava becomes submerged in water. It is composed of silica dioxide and has a glassy appearance. The Black Obsidian is one of the most important spiritual teachers and is also called as the "stone of truth."
This the reason why Black Obsidian is an excellent choice when it comes to scrying and crystal gazing practices, because the Black Obsidian tells you the truth as it is, without clouding or obscuring anything. It will give it to you bluntly. Which is what you want.
In the Middle Ages, black obsidian was used to drive out demons and evil spirits. It was also used to make spears, knives, and arrowheads.
An Apache tear is a translucent form of obsidian found in Arizona, USA. Legend has it that a group of Apache Indians were cornered by soldiers on a cliff. To avoid capture, they leapt to their deaths from the cliff where they were trapped.
The women of the tribe wept so bitterly that their tears turned to stone. Since then, Apache tears were believed to protect from grief and that whoever carries one need never cry again. Apache tears may be used to help work through grief and other troubling emotions.
For healers, it also protects them from taking on the the energies that are causing the illnesses in others.
Black obsidian aids in removing doubt and negative thoughts. Meditate with black obsidian to help clear mental and emotional blockages and bring out buried emotions and issues to the surface before they build up and get out of control. Black Obsidian also protects against depression and helps you manage your grief.
Black Obsidian is beneficial for ailments relating to digestion and helps to reduce food cravings. Its healing properties also include aiding your vision and preventing arthritis and the hardening of the arteries. It is also a pain reliever and combats bacterial infections.
Spheres of obsidian, such as in crystal balls, are used for accessing the subconscious. Black Obsidian absorbs and destroys negative energy such as anger, doubt, grief, criticism, and fear. It drives away negative auras, spirits, and wards off psychic attacks and during divination. You can also use it in protection and centering rituals.

Black Obsidian blades can be used in rituals to cut unwanted links between people. If cut into the shape of an arrowhead, it can be used as a powerful protective amulet. Place four black obsidian arrowheads around your home, pointing in the four cardinal directions for protection. Use seven opaque obsidian arrows pointed outwards and recite what you want to come into your life. Then turn them inwards to allow it to flow in.
The Black Obsidian is also the best crystal to use during Samhain. It is associated with the guardian spirits who watch over us.
To clean a Black Obsidian, use a soft cloth and soap and water. You can recharge it under the moonlight or sunlight or in running water. Store your obsidian in a velvet cloth away from hard objects as it can easily be scratched.

I have a black obsidian crystal and it absolutely helps with TRUTH. In my first month, I saw the problems in my love life and finally set myself free from unhealthy lifestyle of carrying a useless relationship. This crystal is in my window tonight for charging on the lunar eclipse moon energy. It has absolutely helped me process real grief but not suffer grief over this dumb guy I thought I wanted. I’m cutting back on earthly pain relief from botanicals to see if I maybe don’t need herbs nearly as frequently now.
I didn’t get my obsidian crystal here, but I sure WOULD. I may get more of them for releasing energy and then bringing good energy in! Nobody should be without the obsidian crystal if the truth is what you seek. I would definitely shop at this website first. I got mine locally about a month ago and the clarity is amazing. Happy Lunar Eclipse!
