I just had a GREAT talk with a good friend of mine (she is a Pagan btw) and I just got inspired to write this. It might help you...
Have you ever been in a situation where your faith got mocked and you had no idea what to respond?
Here's some of the most common "questions" and some help for how to respond.
Witches, Wiccans and Pagans are NOT evil!
We don't believe in using dark or negative magic. In fact, we have ethical guidelines that prevents us from doing bad things (The Threefold Law).
Most of our Wiccan jewelry is empowering, loving and non-threatening!
I love this one. It's so easy to answer :)
Wicca is recognized by the U.S. government as an official religion and we even have holidays in most states.
In New Jersey you can get the day off from work or school on all of the eight Wiccan holidays.
Okay, so in order to worship the devil, you actually have to believe in him and that means you have to believe there is a Hell as well...
Wiccans don't believe in hell. That's a Christian concept. So is the almighty god. We believe that there is more than one god.
Some people tends to think that all religious books that doesn't start with "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth" are evil.
We create our "bibles" ourselves. We use beautiful long-lasting books of shadows and write our thoughts, spells, rituals and everything else down.
I hope you found this somewhat entertaining and maybe even useful.
Let me know what kind of questions you have been asked about your religion in the comments...I’m new practicing and my boyfriend makes fun of me all the time. Saying stuff like you better grab your broom. My grandmother and aunt were witches and my niece is wicca. Most of our family looks down on us. But our religious beliefs are as true as their belief’s are.
My favorite was when my husband and I met our son’s kindergarten teacher for the first time, both of us wearing our pentacles, the look on her face was priceless!! She never looked either of us in the eye the whole year. She was nice to our son though so I guess she wasn’t all bad 🤨
My soon to be husband was kind of freaked out when I told him I was a witch but he’s come to accept my path and even the path of my son who is Buddhist.
I made my wiccan sister a beautiful painted glass Yule window with a dragon wreath and a pentacle in the center. Some people commented on the Star of David….
I have my spiritual/elemental pentagram tattooed on my right wrist! As do I proudly wear my pentacle of black onyx around my neck. I’ve been asked if I worship satan; which doesn’t bother me really because, I can then share the positive truth about our sacred symbol(s)!
When I first became wiccan my now ex-husband was afraid he would come home one day and find dead animals hanging from the ceiling. How ridiculous and close-minded people can be. Blessed be
Ive been asked if i summon spirits and what have you especially when theres a full moon and im outside bathing in its light
I have had other Wiccans comment on my pentacle necklaces. They were “in the closet” as I sometimes am because we live in an area made up of evangelicals who would happily run us out of the area ! Others have a hard time with the fact
I’m also a follower of Krishna.
I have worn my charm since i turned 13. I’m 5th generation pagan. I was taught beautiful spells by my Auntie. Which herbs do what. But tease all my life for it. Even my closest friends parents didn’t want them around my home, or me. Until they got yo know me
I have worn my Pentagram openly from the time I found it. If anyone had an adhesion I couldn’t tell you. I have had people ask about the gem stone, Amethyst, or they just say that they like my necklace or Pentagram. I’ve been lucky, maybe.
I have worn my pentacles openly for many years. As a civil servant in New York, I was well-known as a Witch – still am, even though I’m now retired I am asked to review anything to do with Wicca. Several years ago, the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision was doing a series of presentations to educate staff on minority religions – I was asked to record the one on Wicca. Out of my audience of clergy, counselors and other staff, I only had one who didn’t seem open to acceptance. (There’s always one – you just smile and walk away.)
I wear my Pentagram every single day & I find it funny because either I’m told it’s a sign of devil worshiping or I’m asked if its the star of David!?!?! Lol
I love this article it is very informative. I have had my religion mocked before. Most people just don’t understand. Bless’ed be
I get sad when people turn away from me because of my Beautiful Pentagram!! Then I have to try to explain it’s not of the beast but a representation of the ELEMENTS!!!

I’m a Jew who wears a Star of David that is often confused for other things. Don’t get me started about my yarmulke on my head in public. But as Wiccans have their misconceptions among the population, so do we.
Nonetheless, I would be happy to support your natural simple and non-evil image to promote understanding!
