All over the world, governments have ordered the lockdown of their cities to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. The US is no different, as our leaders are telling us to "hunker down" and do our part in flattening the curve.

In these trying times, you may experience anxiety even if you're safe in your own home. Here are 8 simple ways to take care of your mental and emotional health while on quarantine.

1. LET YOUR MAGICK SHINE THROUGH

While you can always benefit from preparing for the worst, there is much more you can get from hoping for the best.

Keeping the faith and knowing deep down that you will see this through will give you a mindset that can overcome fear and anxiety.

Let your magick shine through the dark!

2. PRACTICE PROPER HYGIENE

Being cooped up at home isn't an excuse for you to skip baths. Regularly washing, especially your hands, will effectively kill the virus that might otherwise enter your body. Remember to have a steady supply of soap and disinfectant, but be mindful of others and do not hoard!

3. NOURISH YOUR BODY

Coronavirus or not, the saying is true: "You are what you eat". Your mental and emotional well-being are primarily determined by our physical state. Eating healthful foods during this time will nourish not just your body, but also your mind and soul. Make sure you have enough fruits, vegetables, and heartwarming soup!

4. SWEAT IT OUT!

The best way to let off pent-up anxieties is sweating it out! Whether it's Zumba, a personalized workout, or cleaning your whole house, getting up from the couch and moving your whole body pays off both in the short and long term. The endorphins you release after exercising are also natural mood-boosters!

5. DO SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL WITH YOUR HANDS

With a little extra time in their hands, many people are getting back to their hobbies like painting, writing songs, and doing origami. Creating something is really cathartic and can immensely help in easing the stress that can build up while at home. You can also use this time to look back on your goals and see how far you've come along and how far you still need to go.

6. HELP OUT AS MUCH AS YOU CAN

Just because we practice social distancing doesn't mean we should avoid lending a helping hand. You know that staying at home and being generous with basic necessities (like food and protective wear) is the least you can do for your country and the world. If you wanna go the extra mile, ask around or Google several ways in which you can help from home. Health workers, patients, and workers affected by the quarantine need all the support they can get!

7. KEEP THE FAITH AND KNOW YOU'RE NOT ALONE

If there is one good thing the coronavirus has done, it is to make us reflect on how the people of the world need each other in order to live life to the fullest. Without our cooperation and unity, we would have succumbed much earlier. Yet here we are, still fighting. So keep the faith, struggle on, and know that we'll see this through together.

8. PROTECT YOURSELF AND YOUR HOME

Of course, absolutely no one is spared from acquiring the virus. That's why you need to be thorough in making sure you don't get it, so you won't give it to others, too. Cast protection spells around your home, bless pentacles or draw sigils and have them guard the entrances to your homes. Disinfect things and surfaces that may have been exposed to the virus, i.e. when coming from outside.

Ever since we started working from home, the Moonlight Shop Team have added extra protection measures to ensure we stay healthy throughout this ordeal.

Maria has drawn a sigil on all her doors.

Jan whipped up some herbal tea recipes that can help soothe the nerves and boost immunity (which I'd be happy to share in another blog post).

Josh, on the other hand, went for the tried and tested method of wearing a pentacle necklace to bolster his defenses. He has always worn pentacle necklaces ever since he started collecting pentacles, but he says that he has never felt as reassured because of it until now.

"My pentacle necklace makes me feel safe, even when there's so much to worry about. It turns my fears around and gives me a new perspective — that things have to be worse before they get better."

Josh, The Moonlight Shop designer

Because of all the emotional stress this global crisis is causing, we understand the need of a fellow witch to strengthen their spirituality now more than ever...

...that is why we're trying our very best to provide you with Wiccan supplies during this time.

Like Josh, wear a pentacle necklace or hang it on your door for added defenses.

Depending on the design, you can get a pentacle necklace that can sweep away anxiety and keep you optimistic; usher in power and protection for yourself and your home; and give you the proper headspace to tackle the fears that the coronavirus is causing.

We hope that having such a powerful symbol as a pentacle will help you move forward amidst this troublesome period.

Say goodbye to your anxieties and open your life to unexpected opportunities.
